Tim Anker, founder of Colo-X, has been closing colocation deals since 1999 when he put Eircom into 111 Eighth Avenue, New York. At the time, Tim was Director of Colocation and IP Services at Band-X. Since then, Tim has closed deals all over the world. He established The Colocation Exchange – or Colo-X as it is now known – in September 2004.
Over the last 20 years, Tim has closed deals ranging from from 1U to 50,000 sq ft in locations all over the world. However, at Colo-X, our main focus has been on colocation deals for part, full and multiple racks, or 2kW to 100kW or more. Our clients range from small VoIP operators to large enterprise clients and a long list of ISPs, hosting customers and telcos. We support them through:
90% of our activity is focussed on the colocation and hosting sectors in the UK and Europe. However, we are also active in the US, especially helping European companies establish themselves in key North American gateway locations (primarily on the East Coast). Colo-X is also active in Eastern Europe, India, Asia and the MENA region.
Although we track the activities of the large-scale real estate operators offering wholesale data centre services, we do not deal in leasehold transactions. We can work with appropriate real estate brokers/commercial property agents where required, and have often done so.
In addition to heading up Colo-X, Tim Anker is Director of a niche colocation business and a regular speaker at industry conferences. He also writes in the trade press and was on the judging panel for the Data Centres Europe Awards for a number of years.
