Google and Unity Consortium close to cable launch

The Unity Consortium, comprising Google and 6 international carriers are about to go live with their 7.68Tbs sub Pacific system connecting the US West coast with Chikura cable landing station on the Japanese East Coast, where it links in with other regional systems.
The Unity consortium comprises Bharti Airtel, Global Transit, Google, KDDI Corporation, Pacnet and SingTel. The new system will increase trans-Pacific capacity by some 20% in total.
