Facility Description

Opened in January 2010, the first phase of this hosting environment is set over 640 square metres, there are subsequent plans to house it over 3 500 square metres.   This Data Centre will be fed by municipal power feeds which provide 6 MVA power.

Teraco is South Africa’s first provider of vendor neutral Data Centres. Teraco Data Centres are located on the fibre rings of the major licensed carriers in South Africa, including Telkom and Neotel, Broadband Infraco and Dark Fibre Africa all of which have fibre nodes within the building, presented in the Teraco “Meet Me” room.

Teraco Data Centre facilities provide security, fire protection, cooling and cable management according to a N+1 redundancy policy, with power provided according to a 2N redundancy policy allowing Teraco to offer Service Level Agreements guaranteeing 99.999% availability. Skilled technical staff ensures 24/7 support.

Teraco investors include UK and SA institutions as well as the IFC, a division of World Bank.  Teraco partners include Dimension Data and various others.
