Colo-X Analysis

Because it opened 10 years after Telehouse North, and is only half the size, the East building (though still offering impressive carrier choice) is still second to North in terms of popularity for those seeking a point of presence to interconnect with others.  The key benefit of East over North is significantly enhanced cabling infrastructure, with a central corridor full of risers.  As in the North building, where Telehouse are able to refurbish space they can improve the specification to 2kW per rack via A+B feeds.   Availability can be very tight but it’s always worth contacting us as space can usually be found.

Facility Description

Telehouse East is located next door to the original Telehouse building now known as Telehouse North.  The two buildings are some 50m apart and adjoined by footbridges from the central administrative building in the middle.

Telehouse East opened in September 2000, just after the peak of the dot-com boom and, at 90,000 sq ft, is half the size of Telehouse North. So obviously it doesn’t have the same number of installed clients as the North building but saying that, this is still a very well connected facility and is also a LINX site (London Internet Exchange).

Being newer than North the designers made significant improvements to the riser space available, so cabling is certainly much easier than North.

In 2009 Telehouse were able to take back the entire 3rd floor from a single tenant occupier and, after refurbishment, offered the space on a colocation basis to a new and improved standard of 2kW per cabinet via two fully diverse, A+B power feeds.
