Telehouse has announced that the German stock exchange, Deutsche Börse, has opened a new low latency access point in their Telehouse North facility, so offering access to Deutsche Börse’s derivatives exchange Eurex and their cash market Xetra.

Besides offering pretty much the leading carrier interconnection hub in Europe, Telehouse is also home to a number of other leading financial exchanges including access to the NYSE SFTI (Secure Financial Transactions Infrastructure), which provides connectivity back to NYSE Euronext’s European liquidity centre in Basildon Essex (a 70,000 sq ft private data centre).  Chi-X, another leading securities exchange is housed in Equinix’s LD4 facility, located someway to the West of central London and thus meaning the various exchange platforms are scattered far and wide across London, from Slough in the West to Basildon in the East.  Chi-X is also in the process of being acquired by BATS, a smaller exchange which typically has some 5-6% market share in European equitieis compared with Chi-X’s 30% share of the larger London and Frankfurt markets.

Colo-X has been succesful in securing appropriate colocation capacity in Docklands for many trading firms seeking to access these exchange platforms, including small 1/4 rack depoyments for example in the Telehouse data centres.
