UK power capacity – excess supply, not constraints?
October 14, 2011
I was intrigued to read in yesterday’s (13th October) Time’s stock market report that City analysts are suggesting UK electricity stocks are now a “sell” due to excess supply, which of course flies in the face of one of the perceived “data centre wisdom’s” here in the UK. Both Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley were quoted as saying that “generation capacity comfortably outstrips demand” at the moment with no foreseen problems until 2020. Happy days then for the long and growing list of potential data centre operators and ultimately, for end users.
