Why use The Colocation Exchange?
In a nutshell because we are industry experts.  We won't cost you a penny and we do nothing else but help colo buyers find the right providers.
 
Who do we help?
Anyone wih a colocation, hosting or data centre requirement.   Anything from 1 or 2U to colocate a server, dedicated hosting solutions, racks, part racks, we can even help larger buyers find suitable facilities or even acquire whole facilities.  We can also help with related products and services such as bandwidth, backup solutions in addition to the main requirement.
 
What locations do you cover?
We are a London based company, so our knowledge and experience of both the London and regional UK market is unsurpassed.  However, we regularly deal with requirements for Europe, Asia and North America.  Since inception, we have closed deals in places as far apart as Auckland, Warsaw, Budapest, Miami and Panama, to name but a few. 
 
How do we help?
We have been active since 1999.   We have literally seen this industry grow from the ground up.   We have intimate, detailed and up to date knowledge of the facilities, operators and managed service providers that operate within the facilities themselves.  This means we have lots of expert knowledge which can save a buyer a lot of time and effort in finding suitable suppliers.  For example, we know what current pricing is, or which sites can offer over 10Amps per cabinet (and which can't) or where you can find the best network deals.  Our expert status is confirmed by our speaker slots at various industry conferences or press articles (see News section).
As an illustration, take London, our home market.  Run an online search and presto, a massive list of possible colo suppliers will pop up.  Easy right?  No!  Where do you start? In London today there at least 16 carrier neutral facilities and operating within them, say on the basis of 5 per site, are perhaps another 80 or so service providers.  That makes around 100 possible options to investigate (if not more)!
What we do is firstly try to understand your project and key factors and we usually find a phone call is the best way to do this.  We can then make some recommendations as to possible options for you.  For instance, factors might be budget, quality, diversity, power, network choice etc  We usually end up with a shortlist of two or three options.  We introduce you to these companies, usually by email, who will then contact you with a formal proposal.  You negotiate with and contract directly with the provider themselves.  We remain on hand as required for either help or advice or to provide new alternatives if required.  This process is quick, easy and had probably saved you going down a number of blind alleys. 
 
Whats the cost?
Our serivce is free to buyers.  We earn feeds from any provider we've introduced you to who you end up contracting with. 
The important point about our model is that all our suppliers pay us the same commission rate.  This means we don't care about who you deal with and instead can focus on finding the best match of provider to your needs.

How do I view the offers?
After registering on the site, use the ’View Offers’ function to browse the offers available.  You can search by country, city or carrier.  For example, you could search for all sites in Germany with Level3 and Worldcom.  Facilities are listed by size, level of occupancy (%), number of customers and number of carriers on site and finally indicative pricing for racks and space.  This function gives you a quick overview of what’s available.  Then you have the ability to see much more detailed information on each facility by clicking on its reference number. 
 
Please note only fully approved Members can see the detailed information.  Users with Guest status can only use the search function until their membership application is approved by The Colocation Exchange team.  Your membership status is displayed on the ’My Account’ page.  Applications are usually approved within 24 hours.
How do I find out more if I like the look of a facility listed on your website?
After viewing the details of the facility, you can indicate your interest by clicking on the ’enquire’ button on the form and submitting that to us or contact us directly.  Once we have verified your needs we then put you in touch with the facility supplier (usually via email) and they will then be able to give you more details and send documentation if appropriate.
What shall I do if I can't seen any facilities on your website that meet my needs?
Contact us directly to discuss further.  We will try to match you with a suitable supplier using our knowledge.
How do I know the details on the web are accurate?
 Our agreements expressly prohibit colocation providers from posting false information in their offers.  We also try to visit as many of the facilities as possible to ensure the accuracy of the details we have in our databases, besides expanding our own knowledge.  In addition, we often have direct feedback from buyers already introduced to many of the providers.
 
Is The Colocation Exchange a colocation provider?
 No, we do not offer colocation space or related services ourselves.  Buyers contract directly with the appropriate provider.
 
Will my details be confidential?
Yes, confidentiality and anonymity are very important to us. We respect the confidentiality of every buyer and seller.
