The Colocation Exchange acts as specialist, independent agents for carrier neutral colocation space and related services the world over.  We aim to match genuine buyers with providers best able to meet their needs.  Our value proposition to buyers is that we can save them time and money in helping them quickly and easily find the most suitable sites and providers to meet their needs.  Our proposition to suppliers is that we are very low maintenance and only introduce a buyer once we are convinced of their needs.  Our independence, market knowledge and years of experience are our key attributes in performing our role in the marketplace.

 

We deal in anything from a part rack through to large space requirements of several thousand feet in any location throughout the world, though our typical deal is for one to twenty racks and probably located in one of the main telecoms hubs.  However, we have also proved very adept at finding facilities and providers in many emerging markets such as in Eastern Europe, Latin America and the Far East and have for example closed deals over the past few years in Brno, Warsaw, Bucharest, Auckland and Panama to name a few such locations.

 

Our online exchange model allows member colocation providers to list detailed information about their facilities by placing offers.  The information made available includes location, pricing, fit-out specification, network options and level of occupation.   Buyers are able to search through this information once they have registered and can respond to any interesting or suitable offers.  Buyers can also place their own bids where nothing suitable is posted on the web site to indicate they have demand, for instance if they are looking for a colo in a location where no suitable offer has been posted.  Buyers also often contact us directly to discuss their needs without responding to offers.

 

The Colocation Exchange effects introductions of buyers to suitable providers and earns commissions when a deal is concluded.  The Colocation Exchange receives the same commission rates from all its member operators so buyers can be confident they are receiving independent and impartial advice and similarly providers can be assured there are no preferential agreements.

 

We have many years experience of the global colocation or data centre marketplace, gained whilst building and operating the same service at Band-X Ltd since 1999. Over 6 years at Band-X we established relationships with hundreds of colocation providers the world over and closed deals for buyers ranging from PTTs through to independent VoIP operators.
