Our Service for Colocation Sellers

What is The Colocation Exchange?

The Colocation Exchange is a Web-based exchange where registered members can buy and sell carrier neutral colocation space around the world. You can advertise the facilities or services you wish to sell by placing an anonymous offer on the Exchange by using template we have created.  Alternatively you can also browse any bids posted on the website by potential buyers.

Is it worth my while to try and sell my services through The Colocation Exchange?

Yes!  We know the model works.  Whilst The Colocation Exchange is a relatively new company the model has proved itself through six years of operation at Band-X Ltd.  We have now taken on this service and made it better.  Over the six years at Band-X deals were closed all over the world, ranging from a part rack up to 50,000 sq ft.  Our impartial approach and market knowledge attracts buyers from all parts of the industry from small VoIP operators to the largest network operators.

How do I become a seller?

If you wish to sell through us you need to sign our terms and conditions of business.  Please contact us for these.

How do I post an offer on the website?

After an agreement is in place and you are a registered user of the site, click on the ’create offer’ button found on the ’my account’ page, where details of all the offers you create are available.  You will be lead through a series of standard templates where you can provide information about the facilities you have available, including a picture.  Try to fill in as much detail as possible to give credibility to your offer and to allow buyers to compare your offer with others on the Exchange.  Your offer will appear on the website once it has been checked and verified by The Colocation Exchange team.

What happens if someone responds to my offer?

When a prospective buyer responds to your offer we verify their interest and if appropriate then effect an introduction of them to you via email.  At this stage you have the option of accepting or rejecting the introduction (for instance you may already be aware of their requirement).  Once an introduction is accepted we then provide the full and relevant contacts details and put you in touch with the buyer. It is then up to you to finalise the deal and we remain involved as little or as much is needed to help reach a successful conclusion.

How much does your service cost?

It costs nothing to post an offer on The Colocation Exchange as we work on a ’no deal, no fee basis’.  So if we don’t bring you any business you pay us nothing.  In the event that an introduction results in a deal our standard commission rates apply.

What does The Colocation Exchange do to advertise my offering in the best way?

We cannot favour one provider over another, so your offer is treated in the same way as all other postings.  However, our ability to sell your services in response to a suitable enquiry depends on how well you have educated us.  The better we know you, the better we are able to match you with suitable buyers, so we really depend on the information you send us, whether via your offer, via meetings, site visits or other marketing material.

What should I do if something in my facility changes and I need to update my offer?

This is easy using The Colocation Exchange website: view your account details and make any changes here on the particular offer.  You can easily switch between the various tabs.

How else can buyers find out about my facility or services - apart from the website that is?

In addition to using the website, buyers also contact us directly to ask about facilities in specific areas. If your facility matches their requirement we will tell the buyers and, if suitable, arrange an introduction.

Will you just spam me with huge lists of names?

No.  We will not attempt to make an introduction unless we are convinced the buyer’s needs are genuine and we verify that by phone calls, emails or meetings.  We aim to be very low maintenance.

How will I know how much to pay after a deal’s been struck?

Once you have closed a deal with a buyer we will send you a Transaction Report, a form that you complete and sign to confirm the details of the deal, including our commission owing. We then check the details and raise a suitable invoice.

How can I be sure The Colocation Exchange is not recommending other facilities in preference to mine?

The Colocation Exchange is a completely neutral intermediary; we have the same commission structure for all suppliers so there are no preferential relationships.  We focus on matching buyers with providers who are best able to meet their needs, whoever they may be, as this gives us the best chance of closing a deal and earning a commission.

Does The Colocation Exchange offer its own colocation space?

No.  As befits our neutral and independent model, we do not provide colocation services ourselves.

How can I be sure about the confidentiality of my information?

Your offer appears anonymously on the website.  We withhold your name and the exact location of your facility when we post the offer. These details are only released once we are sure the buyer is genuine.

Do I have to meet all potential buyers?

No, it is entirely up to you whether you meet buyers or not.   All introductions are effected in good faith and it is up to you to close a deal on terms you are happy with.

What happens if I don’t close a deal after accepting an Introduction?

Nothing.  We just ask that you keep us informed of your progress with a potential buyer and that if you are not successful then nothing further happens.  We will always try and give you feedback when we are able.
