DRT Meridian Gate is a well-connected but relatively small facility of only 18,000 sq ft net, which is a satellite to its larger brother next door in Sovereign House. Like all the early Redbus facilities, it was built to a decent N+1 specification. However, it is now lacking in power by modern standards with 8Amps per cabinet the original specification, though higher rates can now be achieved by averaging. The facility remains popular with ISPs and hosting companies alike, as pricing tends to be a bit lower than the larger former Telecity sites where network choice is stronger (e.g. Soverign House or Telecity HEX).

In 2016, Meridian Gate was sold by Equinix as part of the agreement with the European Commission to allow the acquisition of Telecity to proceed. It was acquired by Digital Realty Trust along with four other London data centres.

Digital Realty Meridian Gate facility description

MER, as it is affectionately known by the local ISP community, was the second Redbus facility in Docklands and filled a gap for the company between 6 & 7 Harbour Exchange filling up and Sovereign House opening in 2001. As such, it is quite a small facility at only 20,000 sq ft, built over four floors in an office building on a small business campus.

It’s approximately 100m from Sovereign House and home to a relatively high proportion of ISP and hosting clients, harking back to Redbus’s early days when the company actively courted this sector. Like most of these older Docklands facilities, the site is well connected but relatively light on power per cabinet at only 8Amps, when compared with today’s standards.
