Node4’s Wakefield data centre opened in 2009 and offers some 450 rack spaces across four distinct data halls, with the latest going live in 2017.  Clients here range from large, taking an entire hall through to standard retail colocation of racks, half racks and quarter racks.  Node4 can offer a range of network or managed services for clients wanting that or can provide a strictly carrier neutral service. This is a good quality data centre ideally located for the North and West Yorkshire market from a well established UK regional managed services provider.

Node4 Wakefield facility description

Node4 are a Derby based managed services provider offering a broad range of connectivity, cloud, colocation and collaboration services to the mid-market, targeting companies preferring a single service provider.

The company operates three UK data centres, the original (opened in 2004) and smallest at their Derby headquarters building, offering 300 racks, this second facility in Wakefield opened in 2009 to provide 450 racks and the latest in Northampton, which is the largest site at 700 racks which opened in 2013. All in all the company now offers some 1500 rack footprints, or nearly 5MW of IT load over 80,000 sq ft of gross space.  All facilities are ISO27001 and PCI DSS certified.

The three data centres are home to Node4’s own cloud platform where they provide private cloud solutions on dedicated infrastructure as well access to hyperscale environments across their own network where client needs require it.

Colocation services remain an important part of the Node4 mix, but via a combination of acquisitions and growth its the managed services side of the business that is growing faster, but the company has continued to expand data centre capacity in both this site and their Northampton data centre, most recently spending £2m on capacity upgrades in 2017.

The Node4 Wakefield data centre is a modern light industrial building on a quiet industrial estate close to Junction 31 of the M62. It’s located 8 miles south of Leeds city centre, or 4 miles east of Wakefield and as such it is well placed to serve both the West and North Yorkshire markets. Key clients here include some from the Leeds financial services sector.
