The Pulsant Milton Keynes data centre is a 500-rack/2MW high quality or ‘enterprise-grade’ data centre, located just to the north of central Milton Keynes. Colocation solutions range from single cabinets to larger dedicated caged areas over 6 individual data halls.

The facility has four dedicated transformers underpinning the focus on quality and site uptime is claimed to be 100%, a good fit with Pulsant’s focus these days on large public sector and enterprise customers taking more than just colocation services from them. Decent network choice as well for an “out of London” facility with 11 onsite carriers available.

Pulsant Milton Keynes is one of 12 data centres across the country that Pulsant operate, from Edinburgh down to Croydon and they are now seeking to reposition themselves as one of the UK’s leading “edge” operators.

Pulsant Milton Keynes SE-1 facility description

Originally acquired by Blue Square Data in 2008, the data centre formally opened in March 2009 with around half the 500 cabinet capacity available. Blue Square were then acquired by Pulsant in March 2011. The site then underwent a large scale £4m capacity upgrade by Pulsant which opened in Q4 in 2012, bringing an additional 250 racks into production and the site capacity up to today’s 500 racks.

The data centre is built out on the ground floor of the building, across 6 separate data halls, with a mixture of open colocation and dedicated caged areas. Front of house includes parking, security, client break out, meeting, un-boxing and build rooms. Some onsite storage available.

After a string of acquisitions ovee the past decade Pulsant now operate 12 data centres across the UK, ranging in size from 200kW to nearly 4MW and providing some 20MW of capacity in total.  All are listed on Colo-X (use our search function).

Pulsant Milton Keynes is one of four that they operate in the 1-2MW capacity size. The company is now making much of their focus on “edge” colocation. Besides colocation (rack and power) Pulsant offer both network and full suite of managed services.
