The Aptum (formerly CogecoPeer1) data centre is based in the former IBM hard drive factory just off the A27 in Havant and has capacity for up to 1000 cabinets. As such it offers a good quality option for clients seeking a south coast colocation service with a high standard of on site support available 24×7 as well as further managed services from the CogecoPeer1 service menu for those interested. The site opened in 2011 with two halls of 5000 sq ft each available now and two further halls still to come. CogecoPeer1 was acquired in May 2019 by digital assets buyer Digital Colony and renamed as Aptum in August 2019. The business remains head quartered in Toronto, Canada, but the UK team has a long standing presence in the UK market and been on the south coast for some time with their Portsmouth data centre being their only one in Europe.
Cogeco Peer 1 Havant facility description
Situated on the Langstone Technology Park , the Cogeco Peer 1 data centre is a huge single level site taking advantage of the former IBM hard drive factory based here. As such the data centre sits in the envelope of the original building which offers massive floor loading and ceiling height, as well as two incoming HV power feeds to the two onsite power stations. Two existing halls of 5000 sq ft each have been built out so far, one mostly used for Cogeco Peer 1 managed services and the other for a mix of Cogeco clients and Colo customers. Colo customers benefit from 24×7 access, use of build, meeting and break out facilities, large loading bay for deliveries.
All critical systems are of Tier 3 standard, so n+1 on power, cooling, generators etc.
Remote hands available 24×7, £100ph in 15 minutes increments 9-5pm, £200 in 15 mins out of hours.
The Langstone Technology Park is a mixed-use business park including 450,000 sq ft of office space in a 40 acre campus. The park is 22 miles east of Southampton or 7 miles east of Portsmouth. Brighton is 40 miles to the east.
Aptum run 10 data centres across Canada, two in the US and this is their only one outside North America.
