In 2007 we were approached by David Morgan, the procurement specialist for a global IT services company.

Their requirement was for a Tier 3 data centre with fibre connectivity to London in the M25 radius and with a short completion timeframe.

At the time the London market was facing a significant imbalance between data centre capacity and supply and David’s problem was to find out what the options were as quickly as possible and secondly to secure reasonable terms, so his requirement was a combination of availability, specification and commercial issues.

How we helped:

Once we understood David’s requirements we were able to make him aware of the various options that existed there and then and crucially, those that were under development and thus less well known.  As a result of our market knowledge we were able to point David to a facility that met both his demanding specification and in particular, an operator who were able to give him the terms he was looking for.

The Result:

A contract for 10,000 sq ft (1MW) of capacity was duly signed in spring 2007.  David Morgan developed a working relationship with  Tim Anker of Colo-X  and said “the service we got from Colo-X was excellent and their knowledge of the market is second to non.  Since the initial project we have stayed in touch with Colo-X to keep abreast industry news, developments and events.  I’d have no hesitation in recommending Colo-X to any prospective data centre buyer”.
