Colo-X analysis

aql Leeds DC5 Leeds is located half a mile to the south of the aql sites at the Salem Chapel.  It is the first shared data centre for education and research in the north of the UK, procured by JISC and follows an established model already running in Virtus Slough.  Five northern universities have already committed to the shared data centre including Leeds, Liverpool and Sheffield.

The facility is based on a former council building and able to run high density deployments of up to 14kW.  Connectivity is delivered via diverse dark fibre routes to the aql head quarters at the former Salem Chapel or as its now known aql DC3.  Whilst the site is 2/3rds dedicated to JISC about 100 cabinets are available on the first floor for colocation customers.
