The Blue Chip Bedford data centre is a high quality, 600 rack/2MVA data centre established by systems integrator and managed services provider who especially focus on supporting IBM mid range users. The data centre opened in 2010 and provides each rack with 2 x (n+1) power feeds for maximum uptime and resilience.  Strong accreditation’s such as ISO9001, 27001 and PCI DSS. Strategically located outside the M25 and between the M1 and A1 routes.

Blue Chip Bedford facility description

Located just under 2km to the south of Bedford city centre the Blue Chip Ampthill Road data centre is also easily reached from the A421 dual carriage way that connects Bedford to the M1 motorway at Junction 13 10km or 10 minutes away.

Blue Chip are an established systems integrator and managed services provider with a particular emphasis on IBM hardware and software with over 180 staff and trading since 1987. ISO9001 and ISO27001, SAS70 TypeII. The data centre was built to compliment these activities including off-site media storage, remote backup, disaster recovery and high availability of cloud based Intel solutions. Blue Chip claim the data centre is of Tier4 standard offering 99.999% availability and all service delivered as 2x(N+1).

The data centre and five-acre campus freehold is owned by Blue Chip and site security paramount, with dual site gates to avoid tail-gating, 2.4m perimeter fencing, CCTV etc.

Phase 1 of 192 racks went live in 2010 and the site can offer up to three data halls of 192 cabinets each. Cold aisle containment and use of adiabatic free air cooling keep the environmental impact as low as possible.
