Digital Realty Trust, Cloud House, 1 Muirfield Crescent, London, E14 9SZ

  • 4MW/40,000 sq ft “extension” to DRT’s Bonnington House
  • First phase opened summer 2020
  • Campus-cross connect to all DRT Docklands data centres
  • Modern, high quality specification Docklands data centre

Colo-X analysis

DRT’s Cloud House is the first significant new Docklands data centre to open outside of the London Telehouse campus for many years and is essentially a large extension to the much smaller but long established Bonnington House (now renamed as Cloud House West), thus offering the ideal combination of high quality, efficient and new specification data centre with a proven (if small) network ecosystem.

In 2019 DRT also launched a “campus cross-connect model” between all four of their Docklands data centres, thus even though Cloud House is a new site, it offers easy interconnection with the other 3 long established DRT Docklands sites.

For retail colocation users Digital Realty offers an interesting combination of the former Telecity sites (Sovereign House, Meridian Gate and Bonnington House) in a Dockands location that is a little diverse of the East India campus (Telehouse and Global Switch) allied with a competitive price point for both colocation and cruically cross-connect costs as well.

Quarter and half rack options available.

Digital Realty Trust, Cloud House facility description

Cloud House is a 40,000 sq ft/4MW new data centre development in the building next door to Bonnington House on Millharbour in the heart of London Docklands. Crucially, unlike other older Docklands data centres Cloud House is a purpose-built structure, not a retrofitted office building, so offers much better slab heights and floor loadings. The first 800kW phase opened in the summer of 2020 on the top floor, with four floors offering a data hall each.

The history and background of Bonnington House, now renamed “Cloud House West” by DRT is available on the separate Colo-X listing via this link, but the benefit of this small and now aged facility next door to Cloud House is its long-established network ecosystem, including a LINX node. This means Cloud House can offer the ideal combination of modern high quality data centre capacity with the great network choice from the start. Furthermore, in 2019 DRT launched a “campus cross-connect model” across all four of their London Docklands data centres, meaning it is now possible to run a cross-connect, at normal “in-building” prices, between points in any of these four data centres.
