Equinix LD1, 101 Finsbury Pavement, London, EC2A 1RS
Colo-X analysis
This was IXEurope’s first data centre. IXEurope were acquired by Equinix in 2007, whereupon the site was renamed Equinix LD1. By today’s standards this facility was tiny and light on power. However, we believed it had high occupancy, especially by telecommunications and hosting customers and was of particular interest to clients wanting the convenience of a City-based location as it is located only yards from Finsbury Square. The data centre was closed by Equinix in 2019. Contact Colo-X for other nearby alternatives.
Equinix LD1 London facility description
Almost forgotten about this was IXEurope’s first data centre. It opened in 2000, hence the very small overall footprint. IXEurope were acquired by Equinix in June 2007. This facility was built on the ground floor of a City-based office building, and was occupied by individual rack clients and some small telco suites.
Prior to the 2015 acquisition of Telecity, as Equinix expanded on the Slough Trading Estate (with LD4 and LD5), this small facility represented Equinix’s toehold into the Central London connectivity-rich environment. This role was taken over by the carrier-rich hub of Equinix LD8, formerly Telecity Harbour Exchange (HEX). In 2019, probably as a result of lease termination, Equinix closed this small site.
