Host-IT have been building up their colocation offering since 2002 with three earlier data centres in Northampton and Bletchley Park, but their Milton Keynes facility is easily their most impressive with the potential to offer 600 rack spaces once this former RBS cheque processing facility is fully fitted out.

The first data hall brought into production in 2013 offered 60 racks and is now full, with the second similar sized hall now live.  All cabinets can provide up to 32Amps/7kW dual fed power as standard, but the average user is around 3kW/12Amps. As a full-service ISP, Host-IT can offer a range of connectivity solutions from Internet, local circuits and xDSL services.  Well suited to customers and service providers wanting to work with a smaller and flexible colocation provider able to offer part-racks, full racks and bespoke builds in dedicated, secure suites. The facility is ISO27001 accredited.

Host-IT and the Milton Keynes data centre were acquired by Proximity Data Centres in August 2022, becoming their 10th regional or “edge” data centre.  In turn Proximity themselves were acquired in September 2023 by nLighten, who also run 16 “edge” data centres across Germany and France.

The Host-IT Milton Keynes data centre is a former Royal Bank of Scotland cheque processing facility that was vacant for some time prior to its potential as a data centre being appreciated by Host-IT who acquired the site in 2012. After a one year retrofit the first data hall of 60 racks went live in 2013 and the second similar sized hall is now available for use. There is ample vacant space and power available for further fit-out across this single story building and Host-IT estimate the site could eventually accommodate 600 racks. This scope also gives them huge potential to build out dedicated secure suites to customer specifications.

This site is easily the largest of the three locally based data centres that Host-IT offer, the first two being in nearby Northampton where the company is headquartered and the second in Bletchley Park on the southern side of Milton Keynes. With these three earlier sites now full the focus is very much on the larger Milton Keynes data centre which is the only one being listed on Colo-X. Some occasional and smaller scale capacity becomes available from time to time in these earlier sites, contact us to enquire.

Network is provided by Interoute, BT and Kcom/Cityfibre and a range of flexible network solutions is available from simple Internet ports, point to point circuits using BT Ethernet services and ADSL services. Well suited to service providers wanting to offer customers an end-to-end solution.
