Netwise London East

Colo-X analysis

The Netwise London East data centre opened in May 2022. It offers up to 10,000 sq ft of IT space to accomodate 260 racks across four distinct data halls, or nearly 1MW of IT capacity. The building is a light industrial unit on the aptly named Datapoint Business Park, almost a mile north of the Telehouse Docklands Campus at East India Dock. With the first data hall nearing full occupancy, the second is being provisioned and due online in early 2023.

This is the second central London data centre from Netwise, with the slightly smaller first site in Bemondsey, just south of the Thames. London East continues the succesful Netwise model of being a relatively small-scale colocation provider that owns and operates their own data centres.

This approach gives Netwise a superb platform to support their growing list of customers, with solutions from 1U to quarter, half and full racks. It’s ideal for smaller clients who do not need expensive London ecosystem access,  just colocation, network and excellent onsite support from a single, customer-focussed provider.

Netwise London East facility description

The Netwise London East data centre is based in a light industrial unit across a ground and first floor. There is a real attention to detail here – as you would expect from an owner-operated business. The overall design comprises for four distinct data halls, two on each floor, with features such as a build soom and space for support staff who are onsite 24/7. The data halls offer two ‘cold-aisle’ contained pods of 28 APC racks each, or nearly 60 racks per hall.

Key features include an onsite dedicated transformer to deliver the 1.5MVA at 11kv; a secure and gated compound to the front of the site; and an adiabiatic cooling system to help improve PUE (which is designed to be well under 1.1).

Zayo fibre is live and onsite with 432 fibre pairs. This connects the site into the Docklands in Telehouse North and Equinix LD8/HEX.
