Pulsant, Unit 1, 35 Imperial Way, Croydon, London, CR0 4RR
Colo-X analysis
Pulsant South London data centre is one of the few data centres in the South London area available to colocation buyers on a retail basis. Located just off of Purley Way it is well placed to service the Croydon business district and north Surrey/M25 markets. There is around 30,000 sq ft of capacity available over 7 data halls, with scope for significant expansion up to the site’s 80,000 sq ft potential and delivered to a high quality.
At just under 4MW of IT load Pulsant South London is the largest of Pulsant’s 12 UK data centres, with only two others at 3MW or more, Reading South and Edinburgh South Gyle.
The well-thought-out connectivity package makes this a perfect solution for colocation buyers seeking diversity to Central London facilities. A recent power revamp means up to 8kW per cabinet is now available.
Pulsant Croydon LN-1 data centre facility description
Lumison opened this small facility off Purley Way, Croydon in the fourth quarter of 2007. It had formerly been built and run by VideoNetworks, prior to their takeover by Tiscali. After acquiring the site, Lumison spent £1m upgrading it. In January 2009, Lumison announced NetBenefit were a new client in the facility. Further growth came through the acquisition of BlueSquare Data Services and DediPower Managed Hosting Services in 2011. The business then rebranded under the name of Pulsant.
Standard power was 8Amps per cabinet, but new packages of 2, 4 or 8kW per cabinet (just under 20Amps) are now available. Pulsant network into Docklands, Telehouse East and Telehouse Metro, and can offer competitive VLANs for connectivity back to central London.
There is plenty of expansion potential, up to in excess of 80,000 sq ft or 1,200 cabinets. Pulsant are ISO 27001 and ISO 9001 certified.
After the string of acquisitions Pulsant now operate 12 data centres across the UK, ranging in size from 200kW to nearly 4MW and providing some 20MW of capacity in total.
Pulsant South London is one of the larger data centres that Pulsant operate and is one of three in the 3-4MW range, the other two being Reading South and Edinburgh South Gyle. The company is now making much of their focus on “edge” colocation. Besides colocation (rack and power) Pulsant offer both network and full suite of managed services.
