Colo-X analysis

The Pulsant Reading East data centre was previously owned and operated by Reading-based hosting provider Dedipower. Dedipower had built their first colocation facility on the other side of Reading in the ground floor of their office building prior to opening this much larger site in 2007. Dedipower was then acquired by Pulsant in 2011.

Pulsant Reading East now forms one of a string of 12 data centres across the country that Pulsant operate, from Edinburgh down to Croydon, as Pulsant seek to reposition themselves as one of the UK’s “edge” operators. The site is one of five Pulsant data centres that are under 1MW of IT load. Pulsant’s Reading South data centre (formerly Amito, acquired in 2022) is significantly larger at just under 4MW of capacity, whilst Pulsant’s Maidenhead site is only slightly bigger and located some 15 miles to the east.
