Sovereign’s data centre is located in North London and immediately opposite Cockfosters tube station. It was originally built both to accommodate in-house managed services clients and to try to win some of the London colocation market. However, while they have made some progress with the colocation-only model, the focus seems to be returning to colocation for customers taking other services from Sovereign.
From a data centre point of view, expect a reasonable-quality but small-scale site built across three floors of a converted office building, the company’s headquarters. As you’d expect from a high-quality managed services provider, there is much more than rack space on offer, with a particular focus on health care, public sector and education. As one of the few independent operators in the London data centre market Sovereign are ideal for smaller enterprise clients wanting a full solution of colocation, network and support, with quarter, half and full rack options.
Facility description
The Sovereign Data Connect (SDC) colocation site is located at Metro Point, Cockfosters with easy road and rail access. The site is owned and operated by Sovereign Integration Group PLC. It can offer 450 racks over three floors of a five-storey building. SDC offers N+1 throughout on power, cooling, switchgear, generators, fire suppression and UPS, as expected from a Tier 3 site. Connectivity is currently provided by BT, Virgin Media, COLT and Excell. These are provided and presented to the data floors via two separate, fully diverse Meet Me Rooms.
All the cabinets are presented in pods of 22. They are fully cold aisle contained, dual powered and colour coded with individual temperature monitoring at rack level, 42U per cabinet. Other on-site services include desk space for DR and build room.
